2026 is the Number One Year of the Fire Horse. This is a very significant time, because we have let go of the Number 9 year of 2025, and a cycle that began in 2017 has come to completion. We have begun a new 9 year cycle, a Number 1 year for the world.
In numerology, a Year 1 signifies a powerful new beginning, the start of a fresh 9-year cycle, and a time to plant your seeds for future growth and take charge of a new vision, new goals, new projects, or a totally new direction. It may be that you are continuing on the path you’re already on, but you review it and renew where necessary. Number 1 is about building individuality, taking bold action, and embracing courageous change to define your path forward.
But let’s also add in Chinese astrology. On February 17 we let go of the Year of the Woodsnake, which was all about transformation, letting go, shedding the old skin, to reveal the new skin and completion. And we begin the year of the Fire Horse. Whereas the wood snake year was very yin (feminine energy and going within), the year of the fire horse is very yang (masculine energy, and outward energy).
The horse is a potent emblem of strength, swiftness, freedom, and perseverance. When the power of the horse is fused with the element of fire, it promises a year of passion and innovation.
So, we are looking at 3 very dynamic things:
- Number One
- The element of fire
- The sign of the horse.
The energy this coming year is going to be very vibrant, exhilarating and dynamic. If you’re creative, you’ll be given a big boost by this energy. And whatever you feel passionate about, it’s a good time to do it or express it.
It’s also a great year for manifesting your intentions. Feeling passion and enthusiasm is going to go a long way in creating your dreams. But action too. The Universal Law of Action deems that when you take serious action towards something you want to manifest, that’s when the Universe gets behind you and co-creates with you. And this year in particular, because the yang energy encourages action.
And things may happen fast, because the horse is swift. Manifestations may come about much faster than they used to. Horses have great endurance, so take that into account. If things aren’t happening fast enough, foster patience. Don’t give up. Keep going.
The fire horse encourages good leadership, whether it’s leadership of yourself or of others and it rewards courage and integrity. It can be a year where you can really soar if you choose to stay conscious and be grounded. (more on that)
The number one year of the fire horse is not a year to sit on your laurels.
As with anything, there are going to be both positive and negative aspects to this Number One Year of the Fire Horse. The world is going through a massive transformation, from an old paradigm into a new paradigm, so challenges are going to continue whether we like it or not. The Universal Law of Challenges deems that challenges are in our life for our growth and evolution.
The negative aspects of this coming year will likely be:
- There could be a lot more reactivity from individuals who haven’t done the work. This goes for world leaders as well.
- Impatience may be magnified for many of us.
- We may struggle to stay balanced because there’s going to be a lot going on and it’ll be happening fast.
- Because Number One is about leadership, where leadership is poor or corrupted, we may see or feel the karma of that more intensely. Whether we’re talking about an organisation or a government.
- It’s a fiery year – wars could intensify.
- There could be bushfires and other intense environmental catastrophes.
The positive aspects of the Number One Year of the Fire Horse are likely to be:
- Greater inspiration, creativity and innovation
- Our manifesting abilities may become more powerful
- Leaders who lead well with integrity will be able to forge ahead easily and see good results.
- New ideas and innovations that can assist humanity and the planet are likely to come about.
- It has the potential to be an advantageous year financially.
- It could be a year of rapid progress, shifts and changes for the better.
- It will be a year of intense spiritual growth. Those on the awakened path could experience increased psychic ability and healing powers.
The last time we had a fire horse year was 1966. To give you some idea of the energy, here some significant things that happened in that year.
- The cultural revolution began in China.
- The vietnam war escalated.
- France withdrew from NATO, no longer wanting to be under the thumb of the USA (asserting its individuality).
- Indira Ghandi became prime minister of India.
- The Black Power movement began in the U.S.
- The US national organisation for women was founded, advancing second-wave feminism.
- Star Trek premiered on TV.
- Walt Disney died.
- Australia changed its currency from the pound to the dollar, a move away from Mother England and towards the USA.
How do we as individuals best embrace the energy of 2026 – the number one year of the fire horse? I’d like to share with you the guidance that came through in these seven directives.
- Slow down. You don’t have to take off like a race horse. The energy of the Fire Horse is already fast, so you need to pace yourself, not race.
- Take some time between January 1st and February 17th (do this before the fire horse begins). Take some quality time for yourself to contemplate what you really want or what changes you’d like to make.
- Become aware of your own impatience. Because the energy is swift and fiery, impatience may be magnified.
- Be a gentle force, stay grounded and play the long game. People tend to over-estimate what they can achieve in the short-term, but they under-estimate what they can achieve in the long-term.
- Stay aware of where you are directing your energy. You are the power in your life and you choose where your energy goes.
- Lead with love. Stay in your heart, let it guide you. Foster compassion. Do whatever you’re doing with love. Think in terms of inspiration and not ambition. The speedy, fiery energy of the number one year could intensify ambition, ruthlessness and selfishness. That’s not good leadership. Good leadership of ourselves and of others is heart-driven.
- Make balance a priority. The Universal Law of Balance deems that wherever we have balance we will be in our full power.
Wishing you love and awareness this year. Stay conscious, stay grounded and live from your heart.
